Thusharagiri is close enough to do as a proper morning out and still have the whole afternoon left over — 19 km from the farmhouse, about 35–40 minutes through the ghat. Time it right and you get the falls before the crowds, a lazy afternoon back at the property, and the evening free for the thing this trip is really about: a BBQ dinner in the garden.

Getting there

19 km · ~35–40 min

The drive out is via NH 766 and the Thusharagiri Road, the same road that continues on toward Wayanad — easy to follow, no real turns to second-guess. Leave straight after breakfast and you'll be at the falls not long after they open.

Timing it right

Gates open 8 AM

Thusharagiri is open 8 AM to 4 PM, entry ₹30 for adults and ₹15 for students (per Kerala Tourism's official eco-tourism page). Getting there close to opening means you beat both the late-morning crowds and the worst of the heat — worth the early start.

The falls themselves

Main falls, or the trek up

The main falls are an easy walk in from the entrance — no special gear needed. Thusharagiri's also known locally as a trekker's spot, with a path up to the higher cascades for anyone who wants more of a hike. Either way, keep the 4 PM closing time in mind if you're heading further up.

Back at the farmhouse by afternoon

Rest of the day is yours

You're back well before lunch is really over — nothing scheduled for the rest of the afternoon. Rest, read on the veranda, or just let the trek catch up with you.

The evening: BBQ under the stars

The signature evening

This is the part the day builds toward. As the light goes gold, the grill comes out into the garden — a BBQ dinner with plates passed around and nowhere to be afterward. No fixed plan for the rest of the night, just the fire, the food, and the quiet a working farm has after dark.

A short drive from the falls

Naz's Farm House is 19 km from Thusharagiri — close enough for an early start and still back in time for a slow afternoon and a garden BBQ. Whole-property stays from ₹8,500/night.
