Naz's Farm House sits just off the Kozhikode–Wayanad Road, right at the base of the Thamarassery ghat — the climb that takes you up from Kozhikode into the Wayanad hills. That makes it a good base whether you're chasing waterfalls close by or heading further up toward Wayanad's lakes and viewpoints for the day. Here's what's actually nearby, closest first.
The Thamarassery Ghat Road Itself
Right outsideBefore you get to any single attraction, the drive itself is one. The ghat road climbs about 12 km through forest, with well over nine hairpin bends, opening up to views of gorges and streams cut into the Western Ghats. It's the same road you'll take up from the property toward every stop below — worth doing slowly, with a stop or two at the pull-offs along the way.
Thusharagiri Waterfalls
~17 km from ThamarasseryThe closest waterfall to us, and a proper one — the Chalipuzha river splits into three falls here, the tallest (Thenpara) dropping about 75 metres, with Erattumukku and Mazhavil Chattam nearby. There's a marked trekking trail through evergreen forest between the falls, and it's a popular spot for rock climbing too. Best visited September through December when the trails are drier; the falls themselves run year-round.
Lakkidi
Top of the ghatLakkidi is the highest point on the ghat road and known locally as the "gateway to Wayanad," sitting at around 700 metres. It's the natural place to pull over once you've made the climb — misty most mornings, with views back down the valley you've just driven up through.
Vythiri
~5 km past LakkidiA short drive on from Lakkidi, Vythiri is a hill town surrounded by coffee, tea, rubber, cardamom, and pepper plantations — a good stop if you want a slower look at how the hills are farmed, not just viewed from a car window.
Pookode Lake
~3 km past VythiriA 13-acre natural freshwater lake, ringed by forest and hills, with a shape that locals point out roughly resembles India's map. There's boating on the lake and a walking path around parts of it — an easy, low-effort stop if you're traveling with kids or want a break from driving.
Kanthanpara Waterfalls
Near MeppadiA smaller, gentler waterfall — about 100 feet — set among bamboo groves, close to Meppadi town. Easier to get to than Soochipara if you're short on time, and usually less crowded.
Soochipara Waterfalls
Near MeppadiA three-tiered waterfall dropping around 200 metres into a large natural pool — one of Wayanad's best-known spots, and a swimming spot when conditions allow. It's further out than the others on this list, so plan it as its own trip rather than a stop along the way.
